DGP sanctions Rs 1.54 cr special welfare relief

Srinagar : The Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs 1.54 crore as special welfare relief in favour of the Next of the Kin (NoK) of the deceased police personnel.

A statement said that the special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of the legal heirs of deceased personnel including SP Sanjeev Khajuria, HC Kehar Singh, HC Raja Singh, W/HC Neelam Devi, SgCTs Sajad Ahmad, Salam-ud-Din Bajad and Mohammad Yaseen, who passed away during service due to health-related issues.

“Out of this amount (Rs 22 lakh), Rs 1 lakh each has already been paid to the NoKs of the deceased personnel for helping them perform the last rites of the deceased personnel,” read the statement.

Pertinently, the financial assistance is given to the families of the deceased personnel out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.

During the current year, Rs 27.4 crore has been sanctioned in favour of 125 deceased families of police personnel who passed away in service period while as Rs 1.68 crore has been sanctioned in favour of 28 families of deceased SPOs who expired during their engagement with the Department.
